Timeless Heritage

Southern splendour shaped with reverence.

Inspired by the cultural richness of Tamil Nadu, this creation layers architecture, ritual, and symbolism into a single edible structure.

At the summit rests a sculptural element inspired by Chettinad Palace architecture, known for its intricate detailing and stately presence. Surya and Chandra Pirai motifs encircle the tiers, drawn from classical Tamil adornment. Annapakshi diyas stand at the base, symbolising purity, prosperity, and light.

Kolam-inspired designs unfold across the surface, echoing the daily ritual of inviting auspiciousness into the home. Temple jewellery motifs add ornate depth, each one crafted through intricate piping technique in vegan royal icing.

The structure demanded both architectural awareness and cultural sensitivity.
Ornament must not overwhelm meaning.

Through this palace-inspired edible art, royal icing artist Prachi Dhabal Deb honours southern heritage with clarity and restraint. It reflects her commitment to preservation of traditional crafts through sugar artistry.

In her evolution, this piece represents devotion shaped through detail.
Complex, yet composed.
