A Taste of Tradition

India, plated in sweetness.
This collection shifts the focus from monuments to meals, from architecture to appetite. Yet it carries the same intention: preservation through detail.
Inspired by the vast and soulful world of Indian cuisine, Royal icing artist Prachi Dhabal Deb created a series of miniature thali cookies that celebrate regional food traditions. From South Indian banana-leaf meals to North Indian chole bhature and kulchas, from dhokla and farsaan to festive Maharashtrian sweets, each cookie becomes a small cultural portrait.
Crafted entirely in vegan royal icing, every element was hand-piped and sculpted to reflect authentic textures. The sheen of syrup on a jalebi. The softness of an idli. The layered richness of a mithai platter. Even the mango pickle tray honours seasonal rituals of preservation and shared labour within families.
This was not playful novelty.
It was documentation.
Through cultural storytelling through food, Royal icing artist Prachi Dhabal Deb expanded her practice beyond sugar architecture. She preserved not just dishes, but memory. Kitchens where recipes are heirlooms. Tables where generations gather. Flavours that define belonging.
In her journey, this creation marked a widening of lens. Heritage lives not only in palaces and textiles, but also in everyday meals.
India, remembered one plate at a time.
